USS Kraken was a Balao-class submarine diesel-electric submarine of the United States Navy. Manitowoc Shipbuilding Company, Manitowoc, Wisconsin laid her keel on 13 December 1943. She entered service on 8 September 1944, having been launched on 30 April 1944.
111 ships of the class were built. The class followed the Gato-class submarine and was succeeded by the Tench-class submarine.
The boat displaced 1,526 long tons surfaced and 2,424 long tons submerged. She measured 94.8 m (311 ft) long with a beam of 8.2 m (27 ft). Her designed speed was 20.2 knots, and she carried a complement of 10. Her main battery was of 127 mm (5 in) calibre.
She served with the United States Navy as USS Kraken (SS-370) until 24 October 1959. She then passed to the Spanish Navy, serving as Almirante García de los Reyes (S-31) from 25 October 1959. She was in commission for 359 days of the Second World War. She was decommissioned on 4 May 1948. She recommissioned on 4 July 1959. She was struck from the register on 1 November 1974.
She was broken up for scrap.
