USS Kretchmer was a Edsall-class destroyer escort in service with the United States Navy. Her keel was laid at Consolidated Steel Corporation, Orange, Texas on 28 June 1943. Launched on 31 August 1943, she entered service on 13 December 1943.
78 ships of the class were built. The class followed the Cannon-class destroyer escort and was succeeded by the Rudderow-class destroyer escort.
Displacement was 1,253 long tons standard and 1,590 long tons at full load. She measured 93.3 m (306 ft) long with a beam of 11.2 m (37 ft). Her designed speed was 21 knots, and she carried a complement of 209.
Her main battery was three 76 mm (3 in) guns.
She was in commission for 629 days of the Second World War. She was decommissioned on 1 October 1973. She was struck from the register on 30 September 1973.
She was broken up for scrap on 14 May 1974.
