HMS Cardiff was a C-class cruiser light cruiser, operated by the Royal Navy. She carried the pennant number D58. The ship was named after Cardiff. Her keel was laid at Fairfield Shipbuilding and Engineering Company, Govan on 22 July 1916. She was launched on 12 April 1917.

She was one of 40 ships of her class. The class followed the W and Z-class destroyer and was succeeded by the Weapon-class destroyer.

She displaced 4,190 long tons. She measured 137.2 m (450 ft) long with a beam of 13.1 m (43 ft). Her designed speed was 29 knots, and she carried a complement of 460. Her main battery was of 152 mm (6.0 in) calibre.

Her machinery developed 40,000 shp.

She was in commission for 2,193 days of the Second World War. She was decommissioned on 3 September 1945.

She was broken up for scrap on 18 March 1946.
