HMS P512 was a R-1-class submarine built for the United States Navy. She carried the pennant number SS-93. Union Iron Works, San Francisco, California laid her keel on 5 May 1917. She entered service on 18 August 1918, having been launched on 24 December 1917.
The boat displaced 574 long tons surfaced and 685 long tons submerged. She measured 56.7 m (186 ft) long with a beam of 5.5 m (18 ft). Her designed speed was 12.5 knots, and she carried a complement of 29.
Her main battery was one 76 mm (3 in) guns. Her machinery developed 880 bhp.
She served with the United States Navy as R-17 until 9 March 1942. She then passed to the Royal Navy, serving as P.512 from 9 March 1942. She was in commission for 1,832 days of the Second World War. She was decommissioned on 15 May 1931. She recommissioned on 25 March 1941. She was struck from the register on 22 June 1945.
She was broken up for scrap on 6 September 1944.
