USS R-7 was a R-1-class submarine, operated by the United States Navy. She carried the pennant number SS-84. Her keel was laid at Fore River Shipbuilding Company, Quincy, Massachusetts on 6 December 1917. Launched on 5 April 1919, she entered service on 12 June 1919.

The boat displaced 574 long tons surfaced and 685 long tons submerged. She measured 56.7 m (186 ft) long with a beam of 5.5 m (18 ft). Her designed speed was 12.5 knots, and she carried a complement of 29.

Her main battery was one 76 mm (3 in) guns. Her machinery developed 880 bhp.

She was in commission for 2,193 days of the Second World War. She was decommissioned on 2 May 1931. She recommissioned on 22 July 1940. She was struck from the register on 11 October 1945.

She was broken up for scrap in September 1946.
