USS Oriskany was a Essex-class aircraft carrier in service with the United States Navy. She was named for Battle of Oriskany. New York Naval Shipyard laid her keel on 1 May 1944. Launched on 13 October 1945, she entered service on 25 September 1950.
Her class ran to 22 ships. The class followed the Yorktown-class aircraft carrier and was succeeded by the Midway-class aircraft carrier.
Displacement was 30,800 long tons. She measured 270.7 m (888 ft) long with a beam of 39.3 m (129 ft). Her designed speed was 33 knots.
She was decommissioned on 2 January 1957. She recommissioned on 7 March 1959. She was struck from the register on 25 July 1989.
She was sunk on 17 May 2006, at 30°03′N 87°00′W. The wreck survives.
